THE DOGS POND
It is a story about six men, four veterans and two civilians, who gather together for a weekend of male revelry ribbing, drinking, eating, fishing and fighting as they try to deal with wars inescapable aftermath The haunting memories they brought home and the innocence they left behind.
BERGSEY- Fred Mancuso's stage roles are Lennie - "Of Mice and Men", Lee - "True West", Antony - "Antony and Cleopatra", and Richard - "The Lion in Winter". Recent Film and TV: Finbar in the film "Cockroaches" (2019) and the TV shows LETHAL WEAPON as Tony Corsetti, "LUCIFER" as Bounty Hunter, "Grace and Frankie" as The Angriest Man in the World, "SWAT" as Vincent, and roles on "Colony", and "Escape the Night". He was a series regular as Randy Carter on "Dangerous Women" (91), filmed "Made in America" as Bruce (93), and Pratt in "Sudden Death" (95). William Morgan Sheppard mentored Fred in the craft. More at fredmancuso.org STILLS - Josh Evens is Originally from Seattle, Josh Evans is a graduate of Washington State University (BA Theatre Arts). He is also a writer, director, and producer of short films, and for the online sketch comedy group, Lonely T-Rex. His latest film, Now Departing (writer, director, lead actor), was filmed in nine different countries, and has been shown at film festivals in Houston, TX and New Dehli, India. Along with his television credits (Jane the Virgin, The Young and the Restless, Conan), he has also appeared numerous times at the Glendale Centre Theatre, most recently winning a Scenie for his role as Paul in Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park.
OWEN - Craig Hasenbank is a blues guitarist and songwriter born in Wichita, KS but raised in Los Angeles. He has worked as an actor and took scene study classes at Lifebook Acting Academy through 2007-2009 and, although a huge fan of theater and film, has been focusing on music for the last decade. This is his second play after playing Whit in Of Mice and Men in August of 2018, directed by Fred Mancuso. Craig wishes to thank Derek Long and the rest of the production crew for the opportunity to perform this brilliant, important and timely play.
CARTER/ Composer/ Sound Video/ Graphic Art - Ryan de Quintal's past theatre work includes playing George in Of Mice and Men as well as Austin in True West. His recent credits include roles on The Good Place for NBC, LA to Vegas for FOX, and the upcoming Now Apocalypse for Starz!. Ryan produced, co-wrote, and starred in the feature film cockroaches, which is currently in post production. He studied the Meisner technique with actors studio member Robert Miano for several years while obtaining a BA in Radio, Television, and Film at California State University Fullerton. Success is an eventuality if you work hard and continue to challenge yourself creatively.
UNCLE PETE - John William Young is an award winning actor last seen locally in Theatre 68s A TIME TO KILL, playing the irascibly cantankerous, but sweetly humorous, Judge Noose. He also acted in The Group Rep productions of AND MISS READON DRINKS A LITTLE, ROUGH NIGHT AT THE NORTH POLE, and directed the film-noir homage, THE THIRD PERSON. John is best known as Tinker in the film classic ROAD HOUSE and as Jonathan for three seasons recurring on THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW. Other film credits include: BACK TO SCHOOL, HAMBURGER, MONTANA, HOUSE, NATIONAL LAMPOONS LAST RESORT, B.L.V.D. and HOLLYWOOD HIGH.
GARY ENFIELD - Ted Wells has been in front of and behind the scenes in film, television and theater most of his life. After graduating from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Theater Arts with an emphasis in Film Directing, Ted starred in the horror cult-classic, Hard Rock Zombies. Teds favorite roles include Lysander in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Matt in The Fantasticks, the quartet Baritone in the Music Man and the M.C in Cabaret. Ted has been seen at the Glendale Centre Theatre playing Harold Gorringe in Black Comedy, Wilson and Pawnee Bill in Annie Get Your Gun, Bastien André in Is He Dead?, Velasco in Barefoot In The Park, and in West Side Story, playing Lt. Shrank and Gladhand. Ted is delighted to be cast among this extremely talented group of veteran actors.
Director/ Co Producer - Derek Long has been involved in the SoCal theatre scene for close to two decades. He is currently a resident artist with Panndora Productions in Long Beach, where he directed last year's production of In Kings And Fools, and was Associate Producer/Asst. Director for this year's Jupiter Moon. He has also produced and directed several staged readings over the years for the Panndora's Box Annual Festival of New Works. Recently, he directed Robot Monster, the Musical at Sacred Fools Theatre for Hollywood Fringe. He also enjoys coaching for actors and teaching a performance class. More info at dereklong.net.
Co Producer/ Publicist - Kelly Gillespie discovered the magic of movies thanks to Wes Cravens horror film The Serpent and the Rainbow which led her to the world of Anthropology and ethnographic film. From there, she made her way to Hollywood to join the publicity ranks working on campaigns for numerous studio films such as Remember the Titans, Black Hawk Down, The Departed and others. Currently, she uses her knack for making a sentence sing to bring life to other peoples ideas, messages and stories.
Sound and Video Engineer - Brandon Loeser - In addition to being a technical director, Brandon is an actor, stuntman, and comedian. He has appeared in Homecoming, Westworld, Grimm, Scorpion, Superstore, True Blood, Justified, The Dark Knight, Changeling, and numerous appearances on Conan. You can also see him in the critically-acclaimed holiday show Santasia at the Whitefire Theatre now in its 19th year! Brandon would like to thank his wife for all her support and awesomeness!
Lighting Designer - Mr. Derrick McDaniel has been working in the live theater arena for over 20 years, both in Los Angeles and New York. From Romeo and Juliet to Guys and Dolls, Derrick has designed lighting for many plays, musicals and events. A few of his lighting credits include, Mercy Seat (2012 LA Weekly Awards Winner) at the Inside the Ford Theater, Red Speedo at the Road Theatre on Magnolia, Spring Awakening at the Whitefire Theatre, The Crucible at the Madrid Theater; and Freuds Last Session at the Odyssey Theater. and many others. For the 2017-18 award season, Derrick has been nominated for an Ovation Award for Les Blancs at the Rogue Machine Theatre. TRAVIS G. BAKER (Writer) is a prolific renaissance artist of theater, literature and art. He is an award-winning playwright and the recipient of the Berrilla Kerr Award for American Playwrights and an Edward F. Albee Foundation Fellow. His current play, The Dogs Pond, was named a semi-finalist for the 2017 Eugene ONeill Playwrights Conference.
His previous plays include One Blue Tarp, which was named Best of Maine - 2013 New England Playwrights Competition, and made its premiere in 2014, at the Penobscot Theatre Company. It was followed by a return to the small town of Clara with Hair Frenzy. Prior to these productions, Baker wrote God & Mr. Smith, The Weatherbox, and Cold and Sex & Violence all of which were produced in New York City. A potential play in the pipeline is The Town of Clara Historical Society.
Aside from being a playwright, Baker is an avid painter whose work is an on-going exploration of birds and bears. His murals can be viewed at Fields Pond Audubon and the Orono Community Pool. His scenic painting has been featured on Broadway (Beauty Queen of Leenane), Off-Broadway (The Signature Theatre Company, Playwrights Horizons, Public Theatre) and Off-Off-Broadway (Dark Hole in an Alley).
Baker is also the author of the book, Night and the Texas Sky, a goth-grunge gut punch of sex, drugs and humidity. His future literary projects include The Cold God of Violence (4 Plays), The Fawchrawschnesse Chronicles (A fantasy novel), and Sarafina - A Slasher Flick (A horror story).
Currently, Baker has donned another hat to his impressive talents that of pub owner. In June 2018, he opened The Common Loon Public House, with two partners, and is steadfast at the helm bringing pints and British classic eats to all who live or pass through Orono, Maine. Dayna Lucas is a theater Stage Manager and Costume Designer living in LA. Originally from Detroit, MI, she moved to LA and earned her Fashion Design Degree from the FIDM. Previously, she was Stage Manager for the play "Desperately Seeking Love" and "Infidel". She's also the Costume Designer for Whitfefire's "Fall Shorts" opening at the end of September. Dayna continues to explore her passion for costuming and stage managing and is looking forward to more shows in the future.
