Willard Beckham's Perpetual Party! Presented by TWEED

This performance is presented by TWEED TheaterWorks, Kevin Malony Artistic Director.

Willard Beckham returns to the stage to commemorate his 70th birthday with you! Featuring the fabulous Jono Mainelli on piano, this evening of Willards original songs celebrates all the comings and goings of a well-lived life in the theater: a Perpetual Party! Yes, his musical journey from Broadway all the way down to Second Avenue has had more rerouting than the L Train! So join him for a ride filled to the brim with hysterical hijinks, touching ballads and an X-Rated aria or two.

Willard is the writer and composer/lyricist of the musical Lucky Guy, which received a commendation from the governor of his home state, including his very own Willard Beckham Day. A graduate of The Cleveland Institute of Music, Mr. Beckham made his debut as a composer/lyricist at Carnegie Hall. As a performer, he got his big break touring in the first and second national companies of No, No, Nanette, and wound up back in New York playing the Palace with Carol Channing in Lorelei.  Mr. Beckham originated two leading roles on Broadway:  Geoffrey in Somethings Afoot (co-starring Gary Beach!) and Richard Tidewell in The Utter Glory of Morrissey Hall with Celeste Holm. His show Lucky Guy is now licensed worldwide by Rodgers & Hammerstein.

TWEED TheaterWorks (EST 1983),  Kevin Malony Artistic director,  has been partnering with Pangea for the past three years to present a stellar performance series on Sundays (and some others days!) that combines the best of the "old school' and the "up & coming" musical, performance, and theater artists that NYC has to offer.  www.tweedtheater.org

Downtowns intimate supper-club Pangea is the ultimate in alt, playing home to some of the best in alt cabaret. The New York Times recently called it a bohemian oasis not unlike the fabled Maxs Kansas City from days gone by."
