Pianist Thomas Schultz performs Frederic Rzewskis daunting The People United Will Never Be Defeated 36 variations on the Peruvian folksong "¡El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!", a monumental work that critics compare to J.S. Bachs Goldberg Variations.
Thomas Schultz has performed at the Schoenberg Festival in Vienna, the Piano Spheres series in Los Angeles, and with the St. Lawrence String Quartet among other prestigious engagements. For the 2012 John Cage centennial Schultz played Cages solo piano music at the Crown Point Press in San Francisco, at NYCs Bargemusic and at Stanford University. He has been a member of the piano faculty at Stanford University since 1994 and as well has given master classes at Second Viennese School at the Schoenberg Center in Vienna.
405 Shrader is San Francisco intimate concert hall in the Haight (44 seats). These aperitif concerts are are just under one hour in length. A glass of wine is offered, and following the concert you may wish to greet the artist(s).
