Young Womens Chorus of San Francisco, Susan McMane, conductor Golden Gate Mens Chorus, Joseph Piazza, conductor Ragnar Bohlin, guest conductor
Come along with us as the Young Womens Chorus of San Francisco joins forces with the Golden Gate Mens Chorus for a musical journey to the shores of the Baltic Sea. Rich in cultural identities and languages, the Baltic region inspires this program of contemporary and classic works from Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden.
The highlight of the concert is the sublime Te Deum by Estonian-born Arvo Pärt directed by special guest Ragnar Bohlin, San Francisco Symphony Chorus conductor. The work is scored for three choirs (women's choir, men's choir, and mixed choir), prepared piano, string orchestra, and wind harp. The 100 talented singers from these 2 award-winning choruses will exquisitely execute the intricate Pärt score alongside professional instrumentalists. YWCPs Artistic Director Dr. Susan McMane says: The beauty and mystery of this masterwork is perfectly suited for the pure intonation and quality of our young womens voices combined with the resonant, full-bodied sounds of the GGMC. Youll be amazed at the remarkable beauty of this sound! Each chorus will also perform a solo set, with music by Brahms, Penderecki, Esenvalds, Mellñas, Tormis, Rautavaara and Mikinis.
YWCP recommends Print at Home tickets to avoid a long will call line!
