AMC VISIONARIES: ELI ROTH'S HISTORY OF HORROR & MANIAC
BEYOND FEST! DOUBLE FEATURE!

AMC VISIONARIES: ELI ROTHS HISTORY OF HORROR, 50 min. AMC Visionaries is a documentary series in which groundbreaking artists curate and author the untold stories and fascinating histories of their respective genres. Award-winning director, writer, producer and actor Eli Roth (CABIN FEVER, HOSTEL) executive produced this 7-part survey of the masters of horror  the storytellers and stars who define the genre  to explore its biggest themes and reveal the inspirations and struggles behind its past and present. Each one-hour program is a chilling exploration of how horror has evolved through the years and keeps its fan base addicted to fear; this first episode salutes slasher movies.

West Coast Premiere of 4K Restoration!

MANIAC 1980, Blue Underground, 87 min. Dir. William Lustig. I told you not to go out tonight, didnt I? Every time you go out, this kind of thing happens. This kind of thing, in William Lustigs stone cold splatter classic, is the mutilation and murder of young women on the seedy streets of 1980s New York City. Character actor extraordinaire Joe Spinell wrote the script and plays the title role in this deeply disturbing portrait of a man whose abusive upbringing turns him into a serial killer. MANIAC was given an X rating for violence and gore when it first released and was even banned in the U.K. as part of the video nasties debacle - scene after scene offers relentlessly grim, ultra-realistic violence thanks to special effects maestro Tom Savini, all of which will leave you speechless and, more likely, shell-shocked.

Discussion between films with director William Lustig and Eli Roth.
