CityMusic Columbus presents Cuban Classics: The Alonso Brothers Piano Duo
Virtuoso pianists and Cuban brothers Orlay Alonso and Orlando Alonso share the stage in an immersive experience that places the audience at the center of the Golden Era of Cuban music and entertainment, from the 1940s and 1950s.
Following the concert, there will be a VIP Salsa Dance Party that will feature cocktails, dancing, a dance showcase performance, and Columbus own Yumbambe; bringing together the lush sound of jazz harmony with the vibrant rhythms of Afro-Cuban drumming. The location of the after-party is at the Southern Hotel Ballroom.
Vocals along with an eclectic mix of authentic percussion instruments make Yumbambé a unique and exciting group. The band includes some of Columbus most prominent Jazz musicians, who have performed with many jazz and Latin legends.
This special show, led by well-known Columbus Latin Music bandleader
CityMusic Columbus sponsors a diverse spectrum of performances by top-rank musicians in unique, intimate settings as well as provides musical experiences and education to underserved children and their families in central Ohio.
Music enhances learning, literacy, responsibility, spirituality, and creativity, and children who receive music education are better equipped to excel in academic activities and to participate in their communities. CityMusic Columbus can enhance the lives of citizens in our community by filling the gaps in exposure to musical opportunities.
Proceeds from this performance will help support CityMusic Columbus to further expand music programs in Columbus metro area Head Start programs and enable additional music programs in Columbus Metropolitan Library branches.
