About: Without access to housing and basic services, rural-to-urban migrants in Buenos Aires create their own solutions by taking land and building large informal squatter settlements. Discrimination and being regarded as havens for criminals by society and the media has isolated these informal settlements, creating an environment where they have developed their own internal economies, culture and urban forms.

About: Claudia loves being a nurse. Handling adrenaline, controlling emotions, saving lives. At home everything is different: theres a room to clear out, she needs to find a new roommate. Claudia cannot deal with her cousin Silvias recent suicide. Outside theres work, her Aunts grief, an encounter with an old friend. Inside she is still surrounded by the usual sounds, the streets, the rain, neighbors at a distance. Everything sounds like Silvia. Everything reminds her of her inability to cry.

Acompañenos por la premiere del film Costarisense " El sonido de las cosas".
La ópera prima del costarricense Ariel Escalante bosqueja con colores tenues una historia intimista sobre la necesidad que tienen los mortales de convertir a los muertos en fantasmas. Claudia es una joven enfermera entregada a su vocación. Hace cuatro años que trabaja en un hospital subiendo y bajando escaleras, recorriendo los infinitos pasillos envuelta en sonidos robóticos que delatan la riña entre la vida y la muerte. Empatizando con los pacientes que aceptaron al hospital como su casa temporaria, Claudia reparte sudokus por las habitaciones para que los números los distraigan de la aflicción fí- sica y emocional. Pero ella aún no encontró los números indicados para calmar la angustia muda que la persigue desde que Silvia, su prima y compañera de vivienda, decidió suicidarse. El vacío que dejó en el hogar es tapado por los elementos personales de su nuevo roomate. Los atriles de Silvia son reemplazados por posters de obras de Magritte que el nuevo inquilino pegó sobre las paredes blancas y que silencian el desconsuelo cotidiano.
