Rock My Soul Holiday Show
Join the Rock My Soul choir and band (complete with horns!) for a spirit-soaring evening of "gospelized" Christmas carols and R&B- and doo-wop flavored arrangements of popular holiday favorites. Numbers range from high-energy, emotionally charged arrangements of familiar songs such as "Go Tell It on the Mountain," "Joy to the World," and "O Holy Night" to the less familiar but no less inspiring "'Zat You, Santa Claus" (originally done by Louis Armstrong) and a rendition of "I Pray on Christmas" inspired by The Blind Boys of Alabama and Solomon Burke In contrast, introspective carols such as a Temptations arrangement of "Silent Night" and a Roches-inspired version of "Do You Hear What I Hear" will also be performed.
Rock My Soul, a secular gospel choir and band from the Seacoast region, has gained great critical acclaim and is known throughout New England for its rich harmonies and lively, roots-based sound. With its unique brand of "old-school," raise-the-rafters gospel music, the group has garnered an ever-growing following and performed to packed houses throughout New England. The group has also appeared multiple times on 207 and NH Chronicle, and one of its songs is featured in a PBS documentary entitled Freedom Songs: Music of the Civil Rights Movement.
