Discover how our stories connect us. We find similarities in the stories we tell, in the triumphs we celebrate, in the loves we have lost. Nationally acclaimed storyteller Oba William King comes to Portland, Oregon as the featured storyteller for Tellabration™ 2018 with an evening of connections.
Known as The Poetic Storyteller, Oba plays with rhythm and rhyme to capture your imagination. Winner of awards like the Illinois Arts Council Fellowship in Traditional Folk Arts, Oba incorporates stories from West Africa, as well as Americas Southwest and Mid-West. He has presented programs across the United States for young children, teens, adults, and seasoned storytellers.

He recently appeared at The National Storytelling Festival, the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library, and was the Featured Teller for two inaugural Festivals: Evanston Public Storytelling Festival and Storytellers Festival at Park Forest Library. His school and library based assembly presentation and Family Reading Night program continues nationally with rave reviews
A US Military Veteran, King is founder and director of JUSTUS arts Educational Entertainment, an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship Award Recipient, Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar and Hidden Jewel of the Neighborhood. Obas recent books include Firefly and Little Star, a storybook for young readers and R.E.A.D. designed for Pre-Teen and Tween aged youth each available online.
