An Evening of One-Acts
The Real Inspector Hound is a one-act play by Tom Stoppard. The plot follows two theatre critics who are watching a ludicrous setup of a country house murder mystery, in the style of a whodunit. By chance, they become involved in the action, causing a series of events that parallel the play they are watching. Much like Stoppards earlier play Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, the play examines the ideas of fate and free will, as well as exploring the themes of the play within a play.
The Actors Nightmare is a short comic play by Christopher Durang. An accountant named George Spelvin is mistaken for an actors under- study and forced to perform in a play for which he doesnt know any of the lines. The abstract play was inspired by dreams actors and per- formers often have in which they are about to go onstage and cannot remember their lines/ rehearsal instructions. Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m., for the three-weekend run September 7-23.
