Workshop: Hand Painted Collagraphs
This is a two-day workshop: Saturday, December 1 & Sunday, December 2 | 10am-1pm
Build complex mixed media works using your own printed collagraphs enhanced with water-based paints and color pencil. This two-day workshop begins as students create their own image plates and use them to print on rag paper. On the second day, these works will be further developed with gouache staining, acrylic paints and/or colored pencil. Students will learn how to use hand-printing processes and painting techniques to affect both value and texture in their work, and will go home with their mixed media paintings from the workshop. All levels welcome; tuition cost includes all supplies.
INSTRUCTOR BIO Erika Bass is a West Seattle-based painter with over twenty-five years experience teaching in studio art programs for all ages. In her words, her artwork is the process of creating a visual tapestry of relationships between color, shape, texture, and movement. I explore organic forms, piecing them together to build patterns and connections. Erika received her MFA in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art and recently exhibited at Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend. She is represented by Seattle Art Museum Gallery.
