Trap Door is the story of one US soldiers experience in Iraq, comic and disturbing, compiled from innumerable recorded incidents into a single narrative. Based on Albert Camus LEtranger, Trap Door is an opera in which the musical landscape expresses the pressing finality of death and the desperate need for moral and philosophical principles to guide ones actions. The protagonist, an American soldier named Able, discovers himself in increasingly absurd situations, culminating in his arrest and trial for the murder of an Arab man. This production is directed by Jim Cave, conducted by Martha Stoddard, performed by Lisa Scola Prosek, Mark Hernandez, James McGoff, Maria Mikheyenko, Eliza OMalley, Clifton Romig, and Bianca Showalter, with video sets by Jakub Kalousek.
"The Lyrics are full of striking imagery and metaphor, with satirical and dry humor. The music is compelling, rich, and fully realized." -The Academy for New Musical Theatre.
