With a 30-year history of international performance celebrating women's musical and cultural traditions from around the world, Libana has garnered critical acclaim from Washington D.C.'s Smithsonian Series to concert halls across the country to music festivals in Bulgaria, Canada, Greece, India, and beyond.
In addition to the cultural bridge-building of their in-depth research and performance of women's music and dance from around the world, Libana also supports organizations in India and other countries that are promoting women's empowerment. As part of this mission, Libana creates opportunities like this "Marketplace" to sell, at equitable prices, hand-crafted items created by artisan collectives. These gorgeous crafts display traditional artistic patterns and techniques, and the Fair Trade arrangement is a means of bettering the societal status, economic reality, and empowerment of these women artisans and their families.
