FFFEST: Maverick
DIRECTOR: CARA STRICKER
Q&A with Cara Stricker, Abbey Lee & Lorely Rodriguez of Empress Of
A young woman struggles to break free from a controlling relationship, and reclaim her identity in this story of love and gaslighting. She lives in a progressive commune and finds herself on the verge of insanity, looking for unusual ways to fill her time. When her ex-lover Dick arrives unexpectedly, she is forced to confront him and she finally begins to see beyond his charismatic manipulation. Cara Strickers directorial debut explores the power of intimacy and how it can define our own self-image.
Cara Stricker is director, musician, photographer, and artist who has directed videos in collaboration with St. Vincent, A$AP Rocky, Chanel, and Cara Delevigne, to name a few. Her work explores themes of youth and sexuality through urgent and innovative imagery. She collaborated with her exhibition "Make Love to the World" in conjunction with the STRICKER x ARTIST collaboration opened at The Hole NYC in 2014 and she continues to show her films, photography, and installations at galleries worldwide.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes early as screenings & panels will start on time.
