The Undecided
The Undecided :
Runtime : 90 mins.
Synopsis: Set in Sri Lanka. Bahuchithawadiya (The Undecided) explores the life of Sasitha (protagonist), 27, who is the only delivery person employed by Giftnet, an Internet based business which accepts gift orders from customers living outside Sri Lanka. Like most youth living in a peripheral region of global capitalism Sasitha is faced with economic pressures, irrational sexual relations and a sense of social alienation. Driven by the dream of achieving a materialistically better life, Sasitha sees migrating abroad as the only way out. He rides a motorbike daily in the city of Colombo delivering packages door to door and develops relationships with several of the lonely women he happens to meet on the job. Sasitha is fascinated by the recipients of these gifts that are sent from spouses or family members living abroad. His spare time is spent on the office computer when his boss is not looking, in the company of females befriended on Facebook and Skype. Seeing each relationship as a potential asset in his many schemes to reach greener pastures, Sasitha picks Sri Lankan women living abroad as his virtual friends. Among them are several women who have migrated as domestic workers to the Gulf region. His efforts though desperate, at times seem halfhearted. When nothing works out, Sasitha struggles to find some ephemeral solace in exploring virtual sexual life. The surrounding socio-political structures seem increasingly bleak. He loses his job and with it his motorcycle. When his real and virtual relationships cross and his plans come crashing down, Sasitha returns to cyber space and surfs the net in search of new relationships.

This film is about the Korean social atmosphere and structure which forces us to be good natured. The film reveals how I felt in Korea while living and working, sometimes I had to give up to raise my voice and sacrifice myself to pretend to be good people, as many Korean young generation did. We were taught to be obedient, follow the rules, which makes us powerless. I hope my work could get sympathy from Korean young people and also make us them to think about their feeling and status.
