Synopsis: Using their independent Chicago retail store and label named Wax Trax! Records, the two founders take atribe of outsiders on a ride through the 1980s underground. This accidentally creates a new kindof dance music that begins to gain global recognition. As the underground label grows in reputation a series ofunfortunate events cascade through Wax Trax! and its two creators, almost causing the label'sinfluential history to be lost forever. Filmmaker Bio : Julia Nash is the daughter of Wax Trax! Records co-founder, Jim Nash, and currently the owner of Wax Trax! Films. In addition to producing special Wax Trax! events to honer her fathers work, Julia also runs the newly reformed record label, and retail store of the same name.Julia pulls from her own Wax Trax! experience of growing up in an environment of two gay fathers during an uncharted era of 1980s underground music.This is Julias first time directing a feature length film.
