Jacob Augustine (and band), Snowblink, Audrey Ryan
Jacob Augustine is an experimental folk musician from the Northern woods of Maine, whose haunting, elegiac voice commands closer listening. Of his 2012 EP the Press Herald said "Bikini Island is an affecting, arresting release, one of those rare pieces of musical art that stays with you long after the last note has faded and your speakers have grown silent." It's been a couple of years since Jacob has played at SPACE and we're glad to have him back, with a full backing band in tow. Toronto's Snowblink (Daniela Gesundheit and Dan Goldman) makes gorgeous indie pop has been called "one of the most compelling new voices on the Canadian scene" (CBC), opening for Jeff Tweedy, Owen Pallett, Timber Timbre, Ohbijou, Great Lake Swimmers and The Hidden Cameras on extended tours throughout North America and Europe. Gesundheit's voice (called "inhumanly smooth" by Interview Magazine) soars along the perfectly crafted songs. Boston-based Audrey Ryan, originally from coastal Maine, is a one-woman-band multi-instrumentalist whose music draws from many genres - folk, jazz, pop and rock. She tours regionally, nationally, and internationally supported by Folkwit Records (UK) and has opened for Suzanne Vega, They Might be Giants, Josh Ritter, Ra Ra Riot and Grace Potter, among many others. She also wrote a book we like a lot called The Need To Be Heard - A book for DIY Musicians.
