Thirty years ought to be a sufficient amount of time to write a cabaret show about your deceased mother, right? We'll see... Debuting "Come What Mae" is an honoring of one of the most significant relationships of all, Mother.
Mae Brussell (May 29, 1922 - October 3, 1988) daughter of "rabbi to the stars" Edgar F. Magnin, Great-granddaughter of I. Magnin department store pioneers, wife, mother of five, and leading expert of the JFK assassination, was a dynamic and passionate truth seeker; ahead of her time, talented, bold, creative, hilarious, and memorable!
Her seventeen year radio show, Dialogue Conspiracy and later World Watchers, was a weekly digest of the news "according to Mae." She was known as one of the "foremost researchers'" of not only the Kennedy assassinations, but other ongoing conspiracies in America and beyond. If only we could hear what she would say today!!!
One of her favorite lyrics from, "Someone In A Tree," From Stephen Sondheim's Pacific Overtures:
"It's the fragment, not the day. It's the pebble, not the stream. It's the ripple, not the sea That is happening.
Not the building but the beam, Not the garden but the stone, Only cups of tea And history And Someone in a Tree."
