Greg Horne & Tenzin Chopak
Greg Horne is a familiar face at the Laurel Theater, having perfomed at many Jubilee Festivals, contra dances, and with Laurel regulars R.B. Morris and Jay Clark. For this special show Greg is excited to welcome his own brother Tenzin Chopak to the Laurel stage. Greg and Tenzin grew up in Oak Ridge in a family that valued art and music as vital. Though both are active performers, they rarely get to perform together.
Greg's songs show a passion for roots sounds from old time to honky tonk and rock. In addition to performing in area bands, he has written over a dozen instructional books, released an electric band album, Working on Engines, taught songwriting workshops, and toured with Nashville Americana band Wild Ponies.
Tenzin Chopak is an artist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Ithaca, NY. In 1999 he traveled from East Tennessee to North India. While studying Tibetan language and religion there, he was given the name Tenzin Chopak. For the following twelve years in upstate New York, Tenzin kept music a quiet part of his life. Tenzins upcoming sixth studio album will be released in late 2018.
