Join Maurine St. Gaudens and Joseph Morsman, co curators of Something Revealed; California Women Artists Emerge, 1860 1960, along with colleague, Maureen Siegel Sprowles as they present a PowerPoint presentation and share fascinating stories of about many of the talented women represented in Something Revealed, which is currently on view at Pasadena Museum of History. The exhibition, based in part on St. Gaudens four volume book Emerging from the Shadows: A Survey of Women Artists Working in California, 1860-1960 (Schiffer Publishing, 2016) offers a new appreciation of women artist who defied gender and expectation in an era of inequality. Maurine St. Gaudens, art historian, fine-art conservator, author and curator has devoted years to working on the on-going project to gain recognition for these important artists.
Attendees to the program will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the four volume set of Emerging from the Shadows and will receive a special invitation to tour the exhibition.
