The 2018 City of Seattle IPM Continuing Education and Recertification Seminar program is titled Evolving Urban Ecosystems: Trees, Bees and IPM Strategies.   This year we are placing a focus on our urban landscapes as representing an incredibly complex mix of systems .  From formal parks and gardens, to roadway landscapes and forests undergoing restoration, we are beginning to see the new urban landscape as an environment that we may not have recognized in the past.  As professional landscape practitioners, we will be adapting to more disturbance, changing climate conditions, and pests. By learning how Integrated Pest Management works within this ecosystem and employing the best tactics and strategies to enhance and sustain public landscapes will be our goal. This years program will feature speakers who have a specific focus on insects and climate change, how animal diseases are reemerging in the urban environment and specific information about tree diseases in even-aged forest and dealing successfully within the urban interface. These and other urban focused IPM topics will be presented this year.
