The Performance Project @ University Settlement Fellowship-in-Progress & Season Launch Party
Join us for a night of entertainment created by our 2018 Young Artist Fellows. This year's amazingly productive cohort are deeply exploring their instincts for video art, zines, dance, participatory plays, music and activism. Their emerging professional prowess will inspire you to dance into our circle of creative fellowship. The evening ends with a deejayed dance party and a toast to all of the artists we are presenting this Fall.
Featuring work by: (in alphabetical order) * TONEY BROWN * ELLA DAWN * SUKANYA (SUKY) FAIRWEATHER * MIJORI GOODWIN * ALEXANDER PARIS * ALISA PRUDE-HUNT * PHILIP SANTOS SCHAFFER * COURTNEY SURMANEK * RY SZELONG
The Performance Project Fellowship is a year-long creative career mentorship program. It is specifically designed for local, early emerging artists/cultural organizers (between the ages of 18-26) who want the intensive support needed to build a sustainable career in the creative sector.
The Performance Project @ University Settlement answers the call to mentor, encourage, and diversify our art makers, leaders, educators and students. University Settlement is a 130 year-old cultural kitchen that is deeply rooted in our community, and the arts are represented across our entire body of work. Our creative community development approach fosters a sense of belonging, reciprocity and possibility for creative leaders from all walks of life at every stage in their development. Through our series of cutting-edge theater, music, dance and performance art events presented in a welcoming environment at little to no cost, we aim to break down barriers and build community among the diverse groups that call the Lower East Side their home.
