HWY 68, Salinas

John Steinbeck's Pastures of Heaven
Adapted by Octavio Solis
Sponsored by the Big Sur Land Trust. Presented by The Western Stage of Hartnell College.

Steinbeck's words on Steinbeck's landscape! Bring a picnic, plenty of water and something comfortable to sit on, then settle in for a magical afternoon! Guided walks through majestic Marks Ranch begin at 1:00. Guided walks are considered moderate in level. Comfortable shoes for walking on uneven terrain, wide brimmed hat and sunscreen are recommended.

Scenes from Octavio Solis' adaption of Steinbeck's famous short story will touch you. Steinbeck's earthy voice comes through, as a series of California families dream of a new life in Eden-like Salinas Valley where, in reality, many of their dreams are tragically unfulfilled.

This extraordinary theatrical event is open to the public, as Salinas and Monterey Bay communities experience the shared legacy of John Steinbeck's genius.

Marks Ranch, a project of the Big Sur Land Trust whose goal is to connect community to the land in ways that enriches experiences for all.

Ticketed event:  Adult $15. Child $5. Family $40 for 4-6 persons
