BRIEF SYNOPSIS:
As Offshore Oil & Gas continues to move into deeper water in locations where logistics and support costs continue to increase there is a very strong business case to place the production hardware directly on the seafloor. Statoil (now Equinor) has been promoting the Seafloor Factory of the Future concept for a number of years and has already placed major assets on the seafloor. This presentation will focus on the current state of the art of Saab Seaeye line of Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and also the new development of a Seafloor based Autonomous Underwater Vehicle system called Sabertooth. The Seafloor Factory of the Future will need an attendant and Sabertooth is ready to take on that job.
SPEAKER'S BIOGRAPHY:
Chris Roper is Saab Seaeye Ltd.s North American Sales Manager. Prior to joining Saab, Chris managed his own company, Roper Resources Ltd. For over 30 years Chris has been involved in technical sales, onsite installation and at sea training across a wide selection of ROVs, AUVs, tools and sensors systems. Original trained as a commercial deep-water saturation diver, Chris has been involved in a numerous deep-water ROV & AUV operations. These included the recovery operations of the Challenger Space Shuttle in the GOM as well as a number of international deep water mapping project utilizing various AUV system. He has been an invited speaker at a number of conferences and has published a number of ocean related papers.
