Haley Peltz and Molly Flannery
Haley Peltz is a singer and composer. Originally from Lincoln, Massachusetts, she recently
moved back from Brazil where she lived for the last six years. In 2016 she was awarded 1st place in the Popular Singing Competition at the São Paulo School of Music (EMESP). While
immersing in Brazilian music, Haley also strove to bring the U.S. sound to her adopted country. Her last project abroad, a tribute show to the 100 years of Ella Fitzgerald, received critical and public acclaim across the state of São Paulo. In June 2018 she sang with the Harvard Alumni Jazz Band and led a quartet of veteran Boston musicians (Molly Flannery, Ebinho Cardoso and Miki Matuski) in the Middlesex Jazz Festival. Haley continues to seek new cultural connections between American jazz and Brazilian music, highlighting women composers.

Molly Flannery is known for her distinctive touch on the piano, her melodic improvisations, her ability to groove in jazz, latin, and Brazilian idioms. She also arranges, composes, and leads, ensembles.

She hails from Libertyville, IL where she started studying piano at age six. At the age of 11 she biked through her neighborhood putting flyers in mailboxes advertising 50-cent piano lessons, and shes been teaching piano ever since.

After studying composition, improvisation and theory at Yale, Molly began her performing
career in Kyoto, Japan in 1981 where she appeared frequently at local clubs, playing rock and
jazz. In 1983 she left Japan and eventually settled in Boston where she studied jazz with Ran
Blake, Charlie Banacos, Kenny Werner, Harvey Diamond and Doug Johnson.

She has released two CDs as a band leader: Slow Dance at the Asylum and Riding the
Bull.

For many years her home base was the Acton Jazz Cafe, where she ran a jazz jam session.
Nowadays, you can find her playing in Boston and suburban venues such as the Bull Run
Restaurant, Concords Colonial Inn, Nicks Bar and Restaurant, Les Zygomates and Main Streets Market and Cafe.
