35th HOLLYWOOD FOREVER CEMETERY WALKING TOUR
The Art Deco Society of Los Angeles returns to Hollywood Forever Cemetery to share the life stories (including the scandals!) of early Hollywood's pioneers, movie stars and moguls.
The 2-1/2 to 3 hour docent walking tour is highlighted by some living history "visits" with several of the luminaries buried there. Founded in 1899, Hollywood Forever is the final resting place of silent film swashbuckler Douglas Fairbanks, heart throb Rudolph Valentino, film director Cecil B. DeMille, actress Marion Davies and many other legendary Los Angelinos.
Tours depart from the fountain, inside the main gate. Check in upon arrival with the Art Deco Society table near the front gates. (Last outgoing tour leaves at 12 noon and finishes at 2:30 PM). Choose from several tour times.
Tour Times: 10:00 AM 10:20 AM 10:40 AM 11:00 AM 11:20 AM 11:40 AM Noon
Last outgoing tour leaves as 12 noon and finishes between 2:30 and 3 p.m.
Tickets are $20 per person for general admission and $15 for members of the Art Deco Society. You will not receive a physical ticket, rather your name will appear on the list at the door of the event.
If you join the Art Deco Society as a NEW member on or before the date of the tour, your ticket will be FREE! Email artdeco@adsla.org
ADSLA will be selling books authored by some of our docents. Although there is not a book companion to this tour, the books for sale will give more insight into the lives of some of the persons buried at Hollywood Forever.
Sherri Snyder's book Barbara La Marr: The Girl Who Was Too Beautiful for Hollywood (University Press of Kentucky, 2017); Mary Mallory's book about Grace Kelly, Living with Grace: Life Lessons from America's Princess (Lyons Press, 2018) and Mary Mallory and Karie Bible's book, Hollywood Celebrates the Holidays: 1920-1970 (Schiffer, 2015) will all be on sale.
Ample parking is available inside the main gate off of Santa Monica Boulevard. Please follow the signs, or verbal directions of the parking attendant. Since Hollywood Forever is a working cemetery, they often reserve parking for services during the day.
To maximize your enjoyment we recommend comfortable walking shoes (you will be walking on grass), water, sun hats & glasses, parasols and sunscreen (it can be warm, even in October). We will have water for sale, or you may bring your own. Do not forget to bring your camera!
Restroom facilities are available at the entry to the cemetery.
