Along the Road
Celebrate the holidays with Along the Road!

Along the Road is best described as an acoustic rock band with a hint of country/blues that predominantly plays original music. Their lively repertoire ranges from fun, to history-based material, with a sprinkle of love songs mixed in. The band has been featured on FM radio stations WXPN (Philadelphia), WUSB (Long Island), and Radio Airplay. ATR is best experienced in intimate venues such as the Smyrna Opera House where audiences can hear different instruments such as resonator, mandolin, banjo, and harmonica as well as 4-part vocal harmonies.

This special concert will see David Keller (former SOH Executive Director, 2008-2013) return to the Smyrna Opera House stage. The tight-knit band will play a mix of original holiday tunes featured on their premier CD The Days Draw Close to Christmas, including crowd favorite Cookies for Santa and their arrangements of well-known Christmas songs such as Silent Night and Run, Run, Rudolph. The band will also play a few selections from its most recent CD, Enjoy the Ride including the evocative 9066 Express  a song about WWII Japanese-American internment camps that ATR had the unique opportunity to play in the summer of 2017 for Norman Mineta, Secretary of Transportation under George W. Bush (and Secretary of Commerce under Bill Clinton).

Along the Road is comprised of:  Pete DeBlasi (acoustic guitar, resonator guitar, vocals); Ryan Huff (drums/percussion); David Keller (acoustic guitar, mandolin, vocals); Paul Kranz (keyboard/piano, acoustic guitar, harmonica, banjo, vocals); Andy Lefko (electric guitar, vocals); and Fred Sparks (bass). Scott Johnston (drums) also joins the band on occasion. Three of the band members have been playing together since their college days in the 1980s while the remaining bandmates have been added "along the road"- the band hails from four different states along the East Coast.

The bar will be open.  Doors open at 1:15pm.

The Smyrna Opera House is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.  The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.
