Are you intimidated by your home PC computer? Are you able to comparison shop when you need to upgrade from an old computer? Do words like "teraflops," SSD-drives," and "Megabits" (or bytes) make your head hurt? Do you know why your CPU clock speed matters? If you would like to learn how your computer hardware and software works presented in language that you, the non-techie, can understand, then this is your course! You will come away with a big picture overview of how your PC home computer works, how to select hardware and software that fits your needs, and how to react technically and emotionally when and if your computer turns on you. NOTE: This is a course about PC's only. Mac-related issues will not be covered. Rudy Xavier has a Masters degrees in computer science and psychology, and has worked in industry as a programmer, web-builder, and data processing project manager. He has taught at Georgia Tech, used his computational linguistics skills to enhance scientific and medical software, and has, for fun, built more than a hundred desktop computers from scratch.
