The Bill Horvitz Expanded Band
Composed by Bill Horvitz, The Long Walk is a suite of eight pieces written as a tribute to Horvitz's brother Philip, who passed away of heart failure at the age of 44. An inspired writer, director, actor, dancer and choreographer, Philip worked primarily in San Francisco and New York City. The Long Walk incorporates a number of musical styles, including jazz, funk, folk and new music. The compositions are tightly composed and arranged, and contain sections of conducted improvisation, with each piece relating to a different part of Philip's life. The Bill Horvitz Expanded Band features 17 musicians, playing a variety of instruments. Join Bill in this special concert celebrating the release of this ambitious CD recording.
