The music of Claude Debussy continues to enthrall and fascinate audiences thanks to its obvious beauties and mysterious charms. Three different sides of his musical personality are on view in this concert: brass fanfares, a beguiling solo vehicle for harp, and the kaleidescopic Nocturnes, in which Debussy sought to convey "all the various impressions and the special effects of light that the word Nocturne suggests."
The program includes Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Overture, "The Impresario", K. 486 and three Works by Claude Debussy: Danses sacrée et profane (featuring soloist Bethany Man, harp), The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian: Two Fanfares, and Nocturnes. We also welcome our 2018 Youth Concerto Competition Winner, Anjulie Djearam, soprano.
