Three terrific singer songwriters all with stories to tell influenced by life on the road, literary figures and the hard won ethos that makes for good art: experience.
Hayley Sabella hails mostly from the New England coast. Inspired by the dramatic landscape and vast seasonal changes that range as much in temperature as they do in color, she reaches for the earth itself in its various forms to give her a sense of belonging. As the daughter of musicians and missionaries, this brought her to experience pivotal years of her childhood in Central America. Naturally, music became a tool through which she could make sense of the world and put down roots, despite a lingering feeling of displacement.
After experimenting with fresh palettes and uncharted terrain, Sabella has established a sound shes been ever yearning for with Forgive the Birds, the second full-length studio album. Forgive the Birds is both earthbound and ethereal, revealing gripping melodies and intimate lyrics with an unabashedly earnest delivery. Let it draw you in, feel the tug and pull, feel something.
KAITI JONES Jones voice hovers between the quirkiness of Joni Mitchell, and Emmylous country classicismshe does pensive and meditative with equal aplomb. - Leicester Bangs Blog
Kaiti Jones has been making her home in the Boston folk scene since 2010. A native of Portland, Maine, she spent four years in Nashville, falling in love with Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and Flannery OConnor and gravitating toward her now beloved ballad form before returning to her northern roots.
Jones first two releases were EPs - Arise Child in 2009, written and recorded in Nashville, and Growing Things, her first Boston release in 2013. For her first full-length album, VOWS, she teamed up with Golden Bear Records (The Well Pennies) in Des Moines, Iowa and released the album at the end of 2017 to a sold-out room at Club Passim in Cambridge. Jones music is Americana soaked in melancholy, with the occasional foot stomper thrown in for good measure. Her voice is simultaneously earthy and ethereal, carrying the listener a few feet off the ground on a cloud of rich, sophisticated melodies while whispering truth and contemplating the human condition through good old-fashioned storytelling.
JEFF BUTCHER With an EP expected this Fall titled "American Radiation" Jeff Butcher is currently recording new material that reflects more of his rock roots. Jeff has toured Nationally and in Europe, solo and with several projects spanning different genres, playing Summerfest, SXSW, CMJ, CMW, Savannah Stopover, and SoFar: Boston, Chicago and Athens. Over the past 10 years he has played with various acts around Boston and is working on blending Folk and Early Americana with Soul, British Rock, 70's Power Pop, and New Wave influences.
Originally from Connecticut, Jeff moved to Boston in 2006 and continues to be captivated and inspired by the vibrant folk scene.
