As the architect of one of the first racially integrated rock bands (Booker T. and the M.G.s), Jones originated the sound of modern soul music, creating classic hits like Green Onions and backing artists ranging from Otis Redding, Mavis Staples and Neil Young to Ray Charles, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan.
In recent collaborations with bands The Roots and Drive-By Truckers, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award winner continues to push musics boundaries. We are proud to present this groundbreaking performer to share music as a living tradition in the City of Newton.
