Film Screening & Panel Discussion: MILWAUKEE 53206
This film, MILWAUKEE 53206, not only examines Milwaukee's ZIP code 53206, but also illuminates the story of people from across the United States who live with the daily affects of mass incarceration - including individuals and families here in Lancaster County.
On any given day, nearly 1000 Lancastrians are incarcerated in Lancaster County Prison, and an additional 1600 Lancaster County residents are incarcerated in state prisons across Pennsylvania.
Each year, 6000 people are released from Lancaster County Prison, and an additional 700 people are released from PA state prisons back to Lancaster County.
Approximately 10,000 Lancaster County residents are under supervision with Lancaster County Adult Probation/Parole each year.
The RMO for Returning Citizens (http://lancastercountyreentry.org/) has been working in Lancaster County for 13 years to address issues related to incarceration and reentry.
After the film, we will have a panel discussion with local returning citizens and RMO program participants, talking about their personal experiences inside our system of mass incarceration, the challenges of reentry and the local supports and resources that have helped.
Join us for an enlightening and thought-provoking evening examining the impact of mass incarceration on communities, individuals and families.
