Julia Nixon's September Showcase
Saturday, September 15, 2018 sees the return of Julia Nixon to the Henrys Upstairs space for two shows. Doors for the first show open up at 6 PM with the show beginning at 7:30, and doors for the second show open up at 9:15 PM with the show beginning at 9:45. A $15.00 food/beverage minimum is in place for all attendees to ensure we can continue to present entertainment we can truly take pride in.
While she first graced our stage in the 1980s, Julia Nixon has reached astounding heights in bigger venues, such as her Broadway role as Effie in Dreamgirls, replacing Jennifer Holliday, her role as B.J. in the national touring company for Smokey Joes Cafe, and her Helen Hayes Award for Best Female Lead in a Musical for her role as the titular Caroline in DCs own 2006 Studio Theatre production of Caroline, or Change. Shes performed at high-profile venues such as Radio City Music Hall, the White House, and the Lincoln and Kennedy Centers, plus international appearances in Asia, South America, and Europe, where in the United Kingdom she and longtime musical partner David Ylvisaker co-wrote Breakin Down (Sugar Samba), charting on the UK Singles Chart. It is in light of these tremendous accomplishments we are exceptionally proud to have her return to our recently-renovated upstairs space.
Ticket sales are nonrefundable unless outside circumstance requires closing of the venue.
