Emerging Jewish Voices - Featuring Ariel Luckey
Amnesia A Work-in-Progress Performance by Ariel Luckey Featuring violinist Lila Sklar and accordionist Dan Cantrell
A young Jew escapes a Russian police raid and flees for his life, immigrating to the Golden Land of America and settling in Arizona. 123 years later news of an ICE raid in Tucson devastates his great great grandson, triggering ancestral memories he never knew he had. Amnesia, a new interdisciplinary play by playwright/performer Ariel Luckey, layers theater, poetry and a live score of klezmer and Mexican folk music remixes to ask: what happens when we forget who we are and where we come from, when public policy is based on historical amnesia.
The performance will be followed by a facilitated Q&A session and interactive discussion.
