The Claire Lynch Band: Presented by Newmarket Folk Society
Long recognized and praised as a creative force in acoustic music, Claire Lynch is a pioneer who continually pushes the boundaries of the bluegrass genre. Her career has been decorated with many accolades including three GRAMMY nominations, seven International Bluegrass Music Association awards and the prestigious United States Artists Walker Fellowship. Dolly Parton credits Claire with one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business today.
Claire will be joined by three acclaimed Canadian musicians. When not playing principal bass in Orchestra London Canada, Joe Phillips can be found making music with artists as varied as The Art of Time Ensemble, Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra, Group of 27 Chamber Orchestra and many well known musicians and songwriters. Joe has performed with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Les Violons du Roy, I Musici de Montréal, Tafelmusik and many more.
A Canadian and US National fiddle champion, Shane Cook captivates audiences with his danceable playing that is as adventurous as it is technically thrilling. His expressive and virtually flawless performances place him in high demand among a variety of ensembles and collaborations that have seen him tour extensively in Canada, the US, the UK, Ireland, Germany, China and Taiwan. Noted by The Canadian Fiddlers Hall of Fame as one of the finest fiddlers in the world today.
Darrin Schott began his professional career playing fiddle and mandolin for The Good Brothers when he was just 17 years old. One of Canada's top multi-instrumentalists, he has gone on to play or record with many top Canadian artists, lending his talents on fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and anything else that has strings.
