Beware the Ides of September, with Lookie Lookie
Note set times: 9:30 and 11:15
We skipped playing at Accurate this summer because, as some of you know, it can get a bit hot up here. We did miss it, and we especially missed having you here. So the Ides of September will find us back in the loft with our two new members, Eric Ortiz and Edilio Bermudéz, and ready to BU-GA-LU.
As always, basic admission of $20 gets you in for an eight piece band, beer, wine and food. You are heartily encouraged to BYO and help the cause, and there are opportunities for you to ante up a little more loot if you can afford it.
Those with move to give have that option on the pre-sale tickets, too. The eight members of the band and the "venue operator" appreciate every penny.
Doors open at 8 Sets at 9:30 and 11:15
Vicente Lebron - congas Jorge Arce - bongó, cowbell, guiro Rick Barry - timbales Ken Winokur - guiro, maracas, tambourine, claves Edilio Bermudéz - baby bass Eric Ortiz - trumpet Ted DeColo - alto sax, flute, arrangements Russ Gershon - tenor sax, flute, arrangements
Everybody sings! _______________________________________________
Bugalú para el siglo XXI (the 21st Century)
Lookie Lookie revives great 1960's songs by Richie Ray, Joe Cuba, George Guzman, Pete Rodriquez, Eddie Palmieri, Jimi Hendrix (?)...
Four percussionists, three horns and a bass, with everybody singing, means breaking waves of rhythm and melody.
And remember, you don't need to know the first thing about Latin dancing to shake your booty to Lookie Lookie. But if you are an expert, that will work too. And it ain't no crime just to listen: with eight fine musicians up there, there is plenty for the ears.
