Okbari Middle Eastern Ensemble
Okbari Middle Eastern Ensemble Presents an Evening of Arabic Music from the "Golden Era" of the Al-Nadha, the Arab Renaissance.
Al-Nahda (Arabic: ) means "awakening" or "renaissance" was a cultural renaissance that began in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Egypt, then later moving to Ottoman-ruled Arabic-speaking regions including Lebanon, Syria and others. In this special performance, Okbari Middle Eastern Ensemble will share music from this era as well as traditional compositions that informed and influenced composers and performers of the time.
