Learn About Food Rescue and Food Waste Reduction in the Community Wakeman Town Farm, September 17, 6 p.m.-7:30 pm.
Food Rescue US hosted a panel discussion and Q&A at Wakeman Town Farm and Sustainability Center on Monday, September 17, 2018, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. We learned about food rescue and how the community can come together to reduce food waste. The panel included Nicole Straight, Food Rescue US - Fairfield County Site Director, Chef Jes Bengtson of Terrain Garden Cafe, and Chef Jeff Taibe of Taproot restaurant. It was moderated by Sustainne CEO and green foods advocate Analiese Paik. The event also featured local food donors from farms, restaurants, and grocery stores; light refreshments were served.
General Admission Tickets are $25, with all proceeds going to expand the Food Rescue's Fairfield County operation.
Local Food Rescue US Volunteer Tickets are $15 with discount code.
Both General Admission tickets and Volunteer Tickets will also provide admission into the screening of Anthony Bourdain's documentary 'Wasted!,' which will be held at Westport Town Hall on October 21, 2018 at 6pm.
Movie Screening Tickets alone are available for $5 (students and seniors) and $7 (general admission).
Food Rescue US is committed to ending American food-insecurity, and reducing food waste, through direct-transfer food rescue. The organization was founded in January 2011 and established as a 501(c)3. Since then, in Fairfield County, the non-profit food-rescue platform has rescued and delivered 17.2 million meals, saving 25.3 million pounds of food from landfill.
