Bug
Thank you for buying tickets to our inaugural show.

The House of Ithaqua production company present Tracy Letts' Bug, a play exploring a descent into madness fueled by conspiracy, loneliness and loss.  Agnus (Elissa Klie) and Peter (Jeff Hodges) discover that their burgeoning relationship has unwanted stowaways in the form of bugs.  Are these creatures shadows of their own traumas or monsters purposely implanted in Peter by shadowy governmental powers? As they confront this insistent threat they must also confront their own hidden pasts and forge a bond to confront the destiny they create.

The cast is composed of AWI alumn and faculty:

Elissa Klie (Agnes) is absolutely thrilled to be back at Risley Theatre alongside the diehard team that she began her career with, on this wild ride that is BUG. Born and raised in New Jersey, Elissa spent her college years at Ithaca College, playing basketball while getting degrees in Video Production, Scriptwriting, and Theater, and has only recently begun calling NYC her home  even though she needs two hands to count the number of years shes lived there. Her NY credits include Drunk Shakespeares MacBeth, The Taming of the Shrew (BPAC); As You Like It (Bernie West Theater), Ghost Story (Workshop Theater); TV/Film: I Love You But..I Lied, Adulthood, Healing Heroes, Normativity. Elissa is also a voice actor and writer, working on a few projects in between trips to the park with her dogs. Thanks team, my family and B.

AJ Sage (Goss) has been active in the theatre since 2012, most notably as a member of the Ithaca Shakespeare Company and a teaching assistant for the Actor's Workshop of Ithaca.  Favorite roles have included Don Pedro (Much Ado About Nothing) and Thomas Mowbray (Richard II).  AJ created the role of James Watson in Judith Pratt's Maize earlier this year and also starred as Frank in The Gap at IATI Theatre in New York.  A playwright, his one act play No debuted at the Ithaca Fringe Festival in 2015 and he has written a compendium of 10 minute plays for his students' showcases at AWI.  AJ roasts coffee for Copper Horse Coffee and tries to not catch on fire more than once a day.  Bountiful thanks to this cast and crew.

R.J. Lavine (R.C.) caught the horror theatre bug two years ago, playing a witch in The Haunted Barn with Encore Players and Crime Solvers. She is excited to join an amazingly talented cast and crew in this terrifying production of BUG as R.C., loyal friend and voice of reason. An Ithaca local, R.J. has worked on a variety of theatre and film projects with several different outfits including the Kitchen Theatre Company (One-Minute Play Festival), Encore Players (Glinda, Wizard of Oz), Crime Solvers (Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre), Actor's Workshop of Ithaca, PhotoSynthesis Productions, and numerous student filmmakers at Ithaca College. Recently, she pulled her entire family into the biz as extras in the Rosario Dawson-produced indie 8000 Shots (in-production), directed by Talia Lugacy. When she's not acting, R.J. is doing the "mom thing", writing, making music, and/or rabble-rousing. She sends big love and gratitude to Pigpen, Kiki, and Weasley: you are dreams come true.

Jeff Hodges (Peter) is extremely honored and excited to be a part of a massively talented production team and cast. Jeff is a graduate of the Actors Workshop of Ithaca Meisner program, where he also had a stint as a Teachers Assistant. He has previously appeared on stage in productions of Poonah The F**kdog (And Other Plays for Children), Museum, SIX and many Actors Workshop Showcases. Jeff works at PhotoSynthesis Productions, an award winning film production company in Ithaca where he helps shoot and edit an array of projects. Additionally, he works with a number of bands shooting music videos. Jeff is also an avid lover of film, TV, video games, 80's power ballads, cooking and photography. Thank you to the entire BUG team, my lovely girlfriend Ayla Cline (who is an amazing stage manager as well) and my entire family.
