MOSAIC! Carnegies in Concert...Again
Violin virtuoso and Director of Music Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University, Monique Mead, has curated a dazzling night of music, showcasing the excellence of CMUs School of Music, faculty and students - our second Carnegies in Concert collaboration!
Inspired by the 117-ft mosaic mural that is the centerpiece of Library Park, MOSAIC! ties world music to the diversity of Pittsburgh neighborhoods.
The program ranges from classical (Mendelssohn, Bizet, Debussy) to contemporary (The Originals, CMUs award-winning male a capella ensemble). Composer and pianist Nahre Sol, ties together the evenings musical mosaic with the premier of six commissioned miniatures. Performed as bridges between other works in the program, her composition pays homage to the Library & Music Hall, the Steelers, Mister Rogers and our City of Bridges.
A lively after-theater supper throughout the ACFL&MHs beautiful historic landmark facility follows the performance.
MOSAIC! Carnegies in ConcertAgain benefits the campaign to restore and revitalize the historic landmark Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall.
