[class description] This class draws from modern and release based techniques focusing on chore strength, dynamics and musicality, clarity of movement and a sense of artistic design. The warm up aims to awaken the dancers body awareness through alignment touching on the idea of presence and mindfulness, progressing from simple to more complex exercises leading to dynamic sequences through space, playing between set movement and improvisation encouraging a sense of individual exploration. Maria da Luz has been investigating ways in which dance technique can be influenced by somatic practices without losing its rigor and precision and sense of emotional connectedness.
