Replete with sexy dancing and an iconic soundtrack, this star-crossed summer romance follows Frances Baby Houseman (Jennifer Grey), who grows up fast over the course of a few hot-and-charged up weeks in a dance-crazy Catskills resort in 1963. Against the wishes of her family, this Peace Corps-bound young woman, the apple of her doctor-fathers eye (Jerry Ohrbach), discovers love, class consciousness and her breakout life as a dirty dancer once she meets Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze). Hes Kellerman Resorts macho mambo instructor and social director who enlists Baby to replace Penny, his regular dance partner, whos been sidelined. This fusion of drama and dance is set against a back drop of powerful political content class, race, Vietnam, and a pre-Roe v. Wade abortion.
