It may not seem possible for spatial perception to play any role in an auditory art, but hearing is not the only sense involved in music, and surprising as it may seem even hearing is capable of providing considerable spatial information on its own account.
Every generation or so, some enterprising soul comes along determined to haul the concert harp out of the orchestra pit. Pia swings, plain and simple. When she plays some mid-tempo scooting-along tune, like in her own originals all the stock riffage or any vague à lâme vanishes...
