Meeting House Presents Jill Friedman, Tang, Self-Suffice, David Giardina, and friends
Building on a Pete Seeger style sing-along the show will segue to rap and hip hop from Tang and Self-suffice, to Jill's jazz, blues and soul, to inspirational flute and sax from Mixashawn and Spanish guitar from David Giardina.
Jill Free (aka Jill Friedman) began her singing career after learning of the injustices of our society during the early 70s and saw the power of using music as a form of protest. Jill has dedicated her life to community activism and singing music for social change. As a member of the Peoples Music Network, Jill has performed with the likes of Pete Seeger, Alvin Carter, Sr., Mixashawn Rozie and Bread and Roses, and has traveled from Ashville, N.C. to Chicago, IL, Jamaica, West Africa and beyond, bringing songs of freedom and struggle, love and life. Jill can be seen singing with children from the Hartford community or sitting in with local jazz and blues bands around town, and is one of Hartfords biggest believers that music transcends our differences and has the power and energy to bring people together in peace and community!
