Breaking Barriers: A Tribute to the Women Who Paved the Way
Four of New England's premier singer/songwriters pay tribute to the women who influenced them most. Danielle Miraglia, Lisa Bastoni, Jenee Halstead and Samantha Farrells inspirations at times overlap and at times part making for an eclectic night of music and collaboration where you may hear songs by everyone from Janis Joplin, Dolly Parton, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Heart, Joni Mitchell, Tina Turner, Kate Bush, Bonnie Raitt and certainly some surprises! This is sure to be an entertaining night of friends sharing the songs theyre most passionate about.
DANIELLE MIRAGLIA
Danielle Miraglia comes armed with a strong steady thumb on an old Gibson, an infectious stomp-box rhythm and harmonica with tunes ranging from heartfelt to socially conscious that will move both your heart and hips. Her latest "All My Heroes Are Ghosts," released with her band Danielle M and The Glory Junkies touches on a lot of what might be on your mind these days the loss of so many musical heroes on the title track, the chaos of fake news on Monster, our collective anxieties on All On Fire, and more. Danielle was nominated for a 2015 Boston Music Award for Singer-Songwriter of the Year.
"Straddling the line where folk/roots meets rock/blues, Miraglia has a voice that can go from a raspy come-hither purr to an Etta James-esque powerhouse belt, although she may be best known for her lead thumb a heavy, thumping strike on her Gibson thats backdrop percussion in itself." - Lauren Daley, The Boston Globe

LISA BASTONI
Following a ten-year break from music, a career change, and two children, Lisa Bastoni has returned with The Wishing Hour (2017). Produced by Grammy-nominated songwriter and producer Felix McTeigue (Anais Mitchell/Lori McKenna), the album debuted as #1 most played on Boston's WUMB.
"Americana of the highest order...along the lines of Gretchen Peters or Patty Griffin" (Maverick-UK).

JENEE HALSTEAD
Her latest release, Edge of the World, adds to the indefinable soundscape in which her soft and supple voice floats so exquisitely that the Boston Herald felt it like sorceress music, rings of smoke through the trees and the bells of Rhymney, while comparing Jenees working relationship with new producer Sean McLaughlin to that of Emmylou Harris and Daniel Lanois for the way it embedded a tremendous voice in an otherworldly, shadowy soundscape.
Spot on. With her gift for wonderfully evocative lyrical imagery, delivered with such a compelling voice, its easy to foresee that Jenees unfettered songwriting will continue to rise like those swirling rings of smoke into the expansive sky, and far beyond the edge of the world.

SAMANTHA FARRELL
Samantha Farrell's ever-evolving sound is an intersection of jazz, folk, pop and poetry. Her tone is unique and yet familiar all at once; at times playfully lilting and undulating, other times a sexy murmur, and a raspy declaration.
Prodigious and undulating vocals that are delivered with rare, swinging passion.
