"Tom Waits: In His Own Words" - Marissa Mulder
Marissa Mulder won the New York Times "Best Cabaret Show of 2015" for her show of Tom Waits Songs.  Every word she speaks are words spoken by Tom Waits.  Mr. Waits is an American singer-songwriter, musician, composer and actor. His distinctive voice was described by music critic Daniel Durchholz as sounding as though "it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car."  Unique to say the least.  He is a much-loved and frequent guest on the David Letterman Show.  Some of his most famous songs are "Ol'55" made famous by The Eagles, the beyond cynical "Day After Tomorrow" - relevant today more than ever, "Alice," "I Never Talk to Strangers (recorded as a duet with Bette Midler), etc.  His more than challenging songs have been recorded by Diana Krall, Rod Stewart, Robert Plant, Norah Jones, and many others. Ms. Mulder's unique approach to paying tribute to Tom Waits is something to witness indeed.  This show and Marissa Mulder was the critics darling in NYC two years ago. PLEASE NOTE: Mr. Waits is not appearing in Marissa's show!
