All the worlds a soccer pitch in this layered spectacular which links the earths most democratic and popular sport to global economics, migration patterns and fan behavior.
Award-winning poet/performer Marc Bamuthi Joseph delivers urban folktales and piercing social commentary based on his childhood memories of playing the game, his experiences as an American immigrant, and his recent travels to World Cup cities. With choreography that incorporates South African dance moves, capoeira, and techniques from the soccer field, music that ranges from spirituals to bossa nova to beat boxing, and a vibrant background of filmed imagery, shadow play and video projection, /peh-LO-tah/ is a winning tribute to the beautiful game.
