1776, A Fresh Start
1776, A Fresh Start transports us to a future world, distilled down to the skyscraper headquarters of Globe, Inc., located on a man-made island off the coast of Singapore. It contains a contemporary music score, dramatic text, dance, visuals, and projections. The year is 2075. We catch glimpses of a future revealing the ramifications of an American firm that sells out to the highest bidder. Jerry, a middle-aged, everyman anti-hero, toils as a memory-erased janitor (rehabilitation for a crime he cant remember) striving to excel. So depersonalized, he is denied even reflective surfaces. Jerry searches for reason, pushing his light-mop cart throughout a tower where power is wielded to an extent that defies the laws of physics. We experience Jerrys existence through the clamor of sounds, sights, movements, and rhythms that embolden him to fulfill his destiny.
As 2076 arrives, American workers plan a rebellion. Jerry makes a fateful decision amidst the wild and vulgar characters aiming to exploit him. Through Jerry's rumination, we are transported to a world where America has lost its ascendance to Russia, India, and China, with global capitalism gone feral.
1776, A Fresh Start features the talents of twenty professional artists and performers.
