Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre returns to Studio5 following a sold-out performance last fall. CRDT presents rich productions, with an ensemble of ten dancers and nine musicians, all live on stage! "My Past / Our Present" explores concepts of identity -- who we are and how we got here. Included themes are immigration (the trauma and shock of dislocation), diversity, the impact of people and the environment around us, and the modern African American experience. In 21st century America, what topics could be more timely? But though these themes may sound heavy, the expression is absolutely beautiful, thoughtful and moving. Our Studio5 audience thrilled to CRDT's performance in 2017. This year's work includes world premiere pieces with choreography by Monique Haley, Joshua Ishmon and Wilfredo Rivera, and music by Clarice Assad, Joe Cerqua and Pharez Whitted. We are excited to welcome CRDT back to Studio5 and hope you can join us for an incredible feast for the eyes and ears.
